edit to add: I'm using version 0.7.0 rev 232
Also, can there be an option to not disable audio when focus is on a different window? Much of the benefit of this app is that I can watch something in the corner while working on something else.
Thanks for the player - it makes MythTV much more usable for me.

Hi,
Sorry if I've missed this in other threads,
I am at a workplace so don't want to download anything until I know my computer can handle it and it does what is required.
It is essential that I record tv shows with captions (I am not allowed to show them without). Does this programme do that and is it easy? I've had many pieces of equipment say that they do but then I can't playback and it's becoming very confusing.
Also, I would like to be able to set advance programming - this doesn't do that yet is that correct?
Also, what hd capacity would I need and tv card for this to work consistently every day?
Thanks for your help, this looks like a great product...
Wa.

Not conclusive ... are these settings working or not?

Also try the latest bind in Sourceforge (r251) with latest ffmpeg build. Got good performance with the one HD-file I have ...

Regarding the bitrate: I suggest to remove this value from the player because I can't get it to work (still believe it is a bug in the floating point operations of MinGw)

Thanks for the reply Florian,

I thought the problem I had viewing recordings that are in progress had gone with those settings.
I was wrong, they still exist some times.
The video plays from the end of the recording and the audio is from the start of the recording, then it gives an error.
I can watch them correctly with V6 of the player though.

Let me know if you need a log file as I can get this to happen with relative ease.

Was watching the WC Final tonight but needed to pause for a while; came back and played from buffer no problem until it came to programme change time when I was prompted with that stupid "MIKE: Skip commercials" prompt; clicking NO in a fury, it then dropped the buffer taking me to real-time, by which I had missed the final whistle!!

To replicate:-
Example prog is from 18:00 to 19:00
Start watching example programme in Live TV mode
Pause for x minutes
When 19:00 arrives and "real time" programme has finished, player jumps to "real time" loosing buffer.

If you play the program back from recordings > live tv group you can watch the buffer but it will only take you up to 19:00, in the case of some sporting events, they go over time and so, because I was not watching the Live TV from 19:00 (I was watching the recording), it lost the vital few moments of the event.

I have been playing around with this some more as I believe that Mythtv Player is the best windows alternative around.

What I have found is it is not code that is an issue, but the default config.xml settings.

Setting the following values gives me faultless viewing in both sd and hd.
Could we see these changed in the build?

        <AudioPacketBuffer>120</AudioPacketBuffer>
If I try to watch an in-progress recording with this build then most of the time it skips straight to the end of the recording instead of playing from the beginning.
This is not consistent, but I can try and recreate it and supply logs files if you need them.

Dear all,

regardless if you have issues with the 0.6 candidates or not, we would like you to test the latest build against different type of recordings you have in your backends.

Please grab the latest 0.7.0-xyz build from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/mythtvplayer/files/ - and give us some feedback if your experience gets better or worse.

Please use a separate directory for this, in favour of overwriting/corrupting your working installation!
Thanks you and kind regards,
Thanks, I have svn access now so I will commit the changes when i have a chance.

I used a single makefile. Im running tis on opensuse. My ffmpeg is probably pretty recent, i used a prebuilt rpm package.
tinyxml was the most recent version (Id like to make the suggestion this be added in the source tree, its only 4 source files and be once less thing to setup for people building.)
I used the latest stable release for fltk2.

Mostly the changes Ive done so so far is fix the socket connection, add some preprocessor WIN32 defines to remove some windows only code. Some various compiler format issues.

My build still has some issues:
a big one being the gui gets locked out if the SDL window is touched (thinking its a thread problem).
Theres no scaling of the image if the SDL window is stretched. (this might be because theres only windows code and not an linux equivalent)

Also if anyone in the team has experience with ffmpeg and if theres some specific debug i can turn to help get the pandora version working let me know.

Great work Pickle! Your are really getting forward fast!

Can you please do your changes using compiler switches so that we can integrate it into our trunk-branch directly once you succeed.
How did you set up the build system? Automake or Makefiles?
Can you post a list of libs you needed including version numbers please.

Multiple monitors, MythTv Player only works on primary monitor (was using LiveTv mode). Have desktop system with two video adapters, one monitor per adapter, not two monitors on one adapter, not a dual-head adapter. Video window stops updating when window dragged to 2nd monitor. Audio does continue. If video window moved back to orignal monitor, video frame updates continue in sync with audio. Using version 0.7.0-r243, Windows XP SP3 fully patched as of this post date. With backend on Fedora 12, latest MythTv yum update available.

Linux Build

Im attempting a Linux build. Ive worked the svn to a point where I can build and link.
The gui is coming up and the dialog for the hostname for the backend is coming up.

This is where its stops, the sys/socket.h connect is failing. The errno is set to 111, which is:
#define    ECONNREFUSED    111    /* Connection refused */
Any ideas?

Update:
Think i found a fix, at least i appear to get a connection and some data
        #else
            //ip = inet_addr(inet_ntoa(*((struct in_addr *)h->h_addr)));
        host.sin_addr = *(struct in_addr *) h->h_addr;
        #endif

with this change im getting channel and tuner info, but it appears to hang loading the renderer

Update 2:
Its starting to work, i can replay a recording, although once it started the GUI is hung. Live TV also works.
My pandora build still has the connect issue above, which is strange.

Update 3:
Ok got my pandora to connect, just crashes on playback, progress I think the spark connect needs to be reworked
Deinterlace works on the pc build, noticed the gui lockup doesnt happen unless i click the sdl window
