Subject: LiveTV Broken with Samba
As soon as I enable samba shares, livetv will hang when startng buffering.

I was kind of surprised I didn't see any report of this on the forum, so now there is ;)

Other than that it seems to work just fine. (except deleting recordings when you didnt set samba URL properly, unregarding enabled or disabled)

Regards,
Bram

Ya know, know that you mention it, I started having issues with LiveTV after I enabled Samba on my box...hrmm....I just chalked it up to an older issue I remembered with changing LiveTV channels

I have always had Samba turned on, on my Myth box, so I don't really understand the problem. The only way I could see how Samba could be a problem is if you use the Windows Share option in the preferences. I personally don't use that function, I simply connect through the Myth protocol. If you could elaborate as to how to recreate your problem I would love to help prove the existence of the bug or to help you fix it.

Sorry, my fault not describing it properly. It;s indeed the prefences option that breaks it. However when I didnt set the Path correct I cannot delete recordings, unregarding of the preferences setting.

Hi.

Thanks for posting. I am aware about the problem you are describing. It relates to samba not updating the filesize of  a file that is increasing in size. I have made a big rewrite of the code that handles this to be able to handle files that are still being written (as livetv). It seems to work when files are being opened using the mythtv protocol, but I have not been able to workaround the problem in samba. In the upcoming 0.5.1 (which is getting closer), livetv is ONLY possible using the mythtv protocol. So if you open recordings from a samba-share it is only non-livetv recordings that are opened using samba.

Concerning delete: The player does not delete the file in the samba-share. It use a "delete recording" command through the backend and leave the backend to decide what to do. So the problem you have with delete has nothing to do with samba.
