Subject: Announcement for 0.6 stable release
Dear all,

we currently plan to release v0.6 in about two weeks. Therefore, please test the release candidate (https://sourceforge.net/projects/mythtvplayer/files/) and report any bugs found. To make it easier, please use the SF bugtracker at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=187028&atid=…. Thank you!

Hi again,

we had to delay the 0.6 release due to some minor fixes we want to have in. So please be patient, we are nearly there...

kind regards Florian

Guys,

time has run since we last targeted the 0.6 release, I know. Unfortunately we had a sudden drop in manpower and we still see issues with the latest ffmpeg libs. We decided to step back to an older version, and that also means we need another release candidate. Expect it here in the near future, and lets hope it will be the last one

kind regards Florian

flohack,

does the sourceforge code support linux, there was a port done a while ago and from a quick look i didnt see anything specific to linux. Or do you expect the source to be portable enough that compiled with the linux libs it should just work?
My targrt platform is a ARM based linux device.

I would expect you can compile the player with the native Linux libraries (you can find a list of used libs on the "Development page" on the sudo.dk site) since we did the same for the windows env. If any libs are missing in this list please tell us so!

If you are successful with the Linux compilation please feed the changes back to us!

Can anybody send me the original libs.zip file which was used for version 0.4.2 please. It's not available on the homepage anymore!

Lomion, thanks for the confirmation, thats what i was expecting. Ive begun trying to get fltk cross compiled, which i think i can accomplish with a bit of hacking in the makefiles.
flohack mentioned issues with ffmpeg, which version are you guys falling back to?

Would be interesting if you see the issues as well under Linux.

Nobody knows which version we are falling back to ;-) it is a version from summer 2007 which was used for Mythtv Playert Version 0.4.2

Hi Pickle,

what a coincidence. I recently discussed the linux port in this thread a bit: http://www.sudu.dk/mythtvplayer/forum/thread/118 - maybe we can get forward with this also. Please use the other thread for further Linux discussions.

For the missing old library issue, I will put up a sticky note now. Basically it again teaches me the following: Never, never, never delete old stuff if you are not absolutely sure you will need it again :)

flohack,
Yep i familiar with that post, its actually what has given me some confidence that i can get this to work on my ARM device. I didnt post there since it was pretty old thread and this one is the only really active one.
You say you discussed the linux port, were you using a different username in that thread?

Im switching to that source code and it get it to run then i will look into porting those changes back to the latest svn. latest fltk2, tinyxml, sdl are all built and ready to use. I think ffmpeg is giving some trouble building and if the last known working verison is from 2007 that might explain some things.
I think it would help others like myself if specific version's of supporting libs are listed as working (supported). For example i didnt know i need fltk2, so i actually built 1.X version and then saw i didnt have any of the right headers.

But im using the old linux port source which doesnt support the latest myth protocol. Im going to update to the svn code tomorrow and hope for the best.

Pickle,

sorry of course, this should have read: It was recently discussed - I just dreamed of being part of that discussion hehe. However, I contacted a guy from there...

Did you look at sourceforge Patches category? http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=919657&group_id=1… - somebody made something there, never tried it...

I would suggest to move to a new thread for discussing this in "Discussion", as this thread has a real different topic ;)
