Seems like the audio us detected as wrong bitrate. It might be some issue with ac3.
- did it work in 0.5.0? 0.5.1?
- Could you create a bug at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=187028&atid=9… and upload you log.txt files which will provide some details

Sounds critical! Linux, Do you know in which protocol version this changed? From http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Protocol it seems like protocol version 46 is a candidate. Before releasing 0.6.0 I think we should verify all protocol version bumps to make sure the player does not mess up anything.

Can the FILETRANSFER command really delete recordings?

It is greate that you like the commercial skipping ;) Actually we simply skip the commercials when the MythTv tells us to so the functionality should be identical to the one on the normal frontend.
As Lomion say this is actually already supported in mythtv / mythweb. MythTvPlayer is only a player we are not able to edit the recordings.

I was in the process of upgrading to a never ffmpeg version when kind of stopped development. So this is why the 0.5.0 branch is in a bit of a poor state. I guess I checked in some code that was not really done.
The harddrive with the code has crashed so I can't send it to you.
Maybe you can use an older revision where the ffmpeg version upgrade has not been started and increase the supported protocol version?

If somebody want to upgrade the code for the newest protocol and finish the ffmpeg upgrade (or stick with the old one), please mail me.

thanks!
I hope so someone will pick up the development at some point. I got a lot of great feedback by mail and the website got ~400 unique hits a day so it really seems like the player is in use out there.

The interesting lines from the log file is
08:05:52 Demuxer: Stream [0], Type='Video', Codec='H264'(id=28)
08:05:52 Demuxer: Stream [1], Type='Subtitle', Codec='DVB_SUBTITLE'(id=94209)
What is say is that it can find video and subtitles, but no audio. This is probably because because the ffmpeg library used in the player have to be updated to a newer version. Unfortunately I kind of stopped development as I do not even have a mythtv server anymore.. (Makes it a bit hard to test).. But the problem would probably be solved by by a ffmpeg upgrade

The recording is probably recorded on a machine with the IP 10.1.1.52. As there can be multiple backends, MythTv marks each recording with the IP of the backend it is recorded on. If you change the machines IP, this screws up things.

It is possible to override it in MythTv Player such that it opens all recordings from the specified main backend.
Go into the preferences and find the "Open all recordings from main backend".

Did this help?

It is a good suggestion, but I have been very inactive for the last half year so it would not really make sense to have weekly build  :-D

I will try to be better to post progress whenever I do a "prerelease" version as I have also mentioned in another thread a month ago or so. T
onight I have just looked for the bug that is keeping 0.5.2 from being release and I am getting closer. I have also updated the ffmpeg library, but this means that DTS/AC3 and NUV support will be disabled till I get it to work again.

he he.. Spooky ;)
Even though I do not use the player that much anymore it hardly ever crashes for me either.

It sounds like it could be a problem in the ffmpeg-library and your recordings. Is it mpeg2? And is there a stderr.txt in the mythvplayer directory which is spammed with error messages from ffmpeg?
Could you send/post you log.txt file after a crash.

I am trying to upgrade the ffmpeg version so maybe your issue will go away when I finally get time to finalize the release 0.5.2

Could you try version 0.5.0 to see if you get the list of channels in that version.
Skyhawk172, could you upload or mail the log-file.

You should see a list of all your channels in the livetv window. On startup, it creates a list of channels for all your recorders. From the log-file I can see that this does not work on your backend for some strange reason :(
It seems like it can not find any inputs for the tuner.

What tuner-card are you using and can you watch livetv in the normal frontend?

I think I compiled it using the following options (but I am not 100% sure) Also, some of the options might have changed as its been quite a while as you hint;)
./configure --enable-memalign-hack --enable-mingw32 --disable-debug --disable-encoders --enable-shared --disable-static --enable-a52 --disable-muxers --enable-gpl --disable-ffserver
It is probably the --disable-debug that does the trick about the size.

I actually tried to update the version of ffmpeg used about a year ago, but it seemed like some things were broken. If I remember correctly, it complained that I used a deprecated function to decode the audio. So I guess some testing would be needed.
If you compile the player against a newer ffmpeg I would like to know if it works as expected. Then we should update the ffmpeg version and maybe even check in the used ffmpeg version in the trunk?

Btw, I am not sure if the NUV patch works with the latest ffmpeg. The nuv patch adds support for searching in .nuv files. The patch is included in the source tree under 'libffmpeg'. (I guess it should actually be commited to the ffmpeg cvs if nobody else has added this feature)
