Subject: Picture Quality on fast movement
When mythtvplayer plays back videos that have fast movement in them the moving object appears jagged at the edges. This does not happen for the same video when played back using something like WinDVD. Is the fix for this the "deinterlazer" that I am seeing in other posts?

If you mean edges like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/00/Weaving.jpg then yes.
(Picture is from this wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinterlacing)

Is this what you are seeing?

Yes that is the effect that I am seeing for fast moving objects in mythtvplayer (and also mplayer) - but not with something like WinDVD.

That must be because WinDVD uses deinterlacing.
There is simple deinterlacing in the next release of MythTvPlayer. I hope to release upload a version within week.

Hello! Great program, thank you!

When can we try this new version with deinterlacing?

Mikkel posted a link to a new beta version yesterday that supports deinterlacing. You can download it at: http://www.sudu.dk/mythtvplayer/files/0.6/MythTvPlayer0.5.…

Note that this version changes the way that files are processed so be on the lookout for any new issues that may arise from it.

I am using the program at the moment watching soccer (football for purists) with deinterlacing turned on and looks much better.

Please be aware that the version linked above is a beta and may still contain bugs so don't expect perfection, just yet  :-p

I know ;) I am having some trouble smashing a bug that ruins the 0.5.1 release. Please try this version instead and mail me or post what the trouble is, and attach the log-file. (you can attach files in the "post options" link when you write a post. The reported problem is that the player is stuck in "rebuffering" for some reason.
