Subject: Linux Port Available
I have ported mythtvplayer to Linux.  I compiled it using gcc 4.1 under Ubuntu Gutsy.  Attached is the modified source checked out from the subversion trunk.

Subject: Ubuntu Gutsy Binary
Attached is a tar file that contains the compiled application and a listing of the required shared libraries.  You should be able to obtain them through the Ubuntu packages from Synaptic if they are not already installed on your system.

Sounds great!
Is is stable?.. I did actually try to compile it for linux almost a year ago (That is why there was already #ifdef win32_ in some files), but there seemed to be some lockups at that point in time. Does it seem to run smoothly now?
I will changes are not to large, I will merge them into the trunk such that you will always be able to compile the player.

Live TV seems to have some problems, but viewing recorded shows works fine.  I will spend some time debugging and let you know.

nice you have done this - i just started today looking for a linux mythtv client and thought of trying to port this one.
main reason is that i want to build classes or interfaces that makes a streaming server possible.
im using a streaming hardware to show videos at tv ( pinnacle show center 200 ).
there are many projekts working with this and for linvdr is allready a server available (http://www.panczyk.eu/),
but not for mythtv.
So at last i maybe want to merge this projekts.
Interesting if live tv works with linux....
Edit:
i just tryed to compile - i think this is missing:
Config.h:27:21:#include <tinyxml.h>
might be found here:

You still need all the required development packages for mythtvplayer (tinyxml, fltk2, etc).

I just tried it out on my Ubuntu Gutsy install (which is also my mythTV backend).  The compiled application ran without me even needing to download any additional libraries!   My linux box is a lowly Athlon 1300+ with 512MB RAM, and the player runs just fine as long as I don't mess with too many other applications at the same time.

Thanks for making the linux port!

This raises the question for me, why not just run mythtv-frontend in a window. Isn't this what you are trying to achieve or am I missing something?

Interesting!
Did anybody build an rpm for Fedora x86_64?
I didn't get the fltk stuff working. (fltk2 is not on rpmfind)

Please let us know!

So is this a reality? I see that there was a post a year ago. Yet I see no distribtution.

I did this port as well, before I noticed this thread, but used autoconfig/automake for config.
