Subject: subtitles
I am not sure if it has been suggested or implemented, but I would like to be able to see subtitles (closed captions).

When you say subtitles, do you mean closed captioning on-screen text?  On-screen display is on the developmental roadmap

from reading the developmental roadmap, it sounds like OSD (On-Screen Display) is going to show the play/pause buttons on the display area.  I hope it has the subtitles (closed captions) text as well.

I vote for closed captioning support as well. The Finnish broadcasting company (YLE) uses DVB subtitles (closed captioning) on all imported programming instead of embedding subtitles to the video stream.
