Subject: washed out colours
I'm using windows Vista with version 0.5.0. The program seems to work fine. I streamed livetv, played a few recording, works well. One issue though the playback is all washed out. See attached image. I know the source I not like this. I did tthe following to confirm. The capture is from Live TV. I recorded a few minutes. Played it back on the frontend, and its fine. Streamed it back on the computer from within mythweb and it played fine. when I play it with mythtvplayer its washed out.

I also tried running the program in 256bit color compatability mode. The colors were really off, but still washed out. Any sugestions? Need more info?

Replying to my own email...

Bit more info:

The washed color is more like everything is in greyscale.

Looking through the Vista color thread, I noticed they had a different experience when changing the color quality from 32bits to 16bits. When I did this, the display returned to normal (I got color).
This kind of a workaround, but I'd have to give up 32bit color... Seems the color map might be messed up. Any ideas?

Hi Daryl,

I run MythTV player v0.5.0 on Vsta with my nVidia graphics card just fine.  What graphics card are you running?  To clarify, the greyscale image shows up for both recordings and live TV in MythTV player?

I use Vista Business with a nvidea EN8400GS video card.

Yes, the source is in color, but during playback of recorded, OR live, the image is in gray. If I playback the file (on the same machine as I've tried using mythtvplayer) with mythweb the image is in color. If I switch to a 16bit colour  mythtvplayer works fine.

I will check if I have the latest device driver for the video card. I'll post back the results.

I found newer drivers off the Asus website (windows update did not find anything), installed them and it now works perfectly. So it must have been a bug in the older display drivers. The image is also brighter.
Great program, keep up the good work! A good windows player for mythtv is long overdue.
