Had another "lost audio stream" message On the Pentium-D system running 070r236 under XP SP2.  Log file attached.  I would upload the program, but it's ~14GB.  So I'll make it available if requested.  The program is the 2 hour Season Premier of House in 720t format:

 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13902781608 Sep 21 22:05 1131_20090921200000.mpg

Hugh Laurie out did himself in this one.  The plot and imagery in this episode are outstanding and beautiful!

Had one request, so here it is:

  http://www.arno.com/mythtv/1131_20090921200000.mpg

It seems the web download is working for down-loaders so far.

Dear all,

i cannot play the 720p recording at my machine at all, stops after 0.5s of play, using the version from Lomion in this thread. Look at the screenshot, some things are very odd.

Craig, do you also see this strange and huge bitrate values in the main window?
kind regards Florian

I no longer have this exact file on my MythTV, however here are two screen shots from Machine1 and Machine4 playing the latest BBC News 720p programming.  The programs play on my systems, they just error some 10's of seconds after starting.  I can restore the exact BBC News program if we are going to spend time discussing the behavior of this one exact program.  Locally, the files transfer using SFTP at about 23MB/Sec.  More time is spent reintegrating the program back into the MythTV Setup than transferring.  Also I am not clear if you are running 070r236 or 070r236c1?  (The title bar looks the same on both).  My wireless-G is also connected to about 3 wireless-B MP3 players (not G exclusively).  This might account for my lack of needed bandwidth for video.

I see something like what you show and 90% CPU usage when audio/video aren't syncing.  As I said, this station's programming historically has all the features turned on (sub titles, stereo, etc.) and will cause the most problems.  Unless I'm missing something... I'm glad you are able to reproduce the issues so readily on your setup!

And "House" (720t) is posted as requested.  I really liked this episode.  Enjoy it over the weekend!  My connection is limited to 256KB/S upload speed (and I see it's maxed out now).  If you are the only one downloading it should take about 16 hours, so patience...  ;-)

I will be traveling this weekend returning Monday.  I suspect the samples provided will keep everyone busy and maybe entertained.

Craig

Fun-n-games...

Picture of bandwidth this evening.  My connection is asymmetric, I can download at up to 30MB/Sec.  As you can see, upload is limited to 256KB/Sec.

An independent monitoring service http://www.voipspear.com says my VoIP MOS score is bobbing between 3-4.  It normally sits at about 4.3.  Maybe now is a good time for me to play with my QoS settings in wshaper. :-)  Family called this evening and say the phone call still sounds fine on their end.

0.7.0 r236 seems to have solved the slow playback problem for me.  Thanks!

I have noticed however in this version that if I try to move or resize the playback window, it moves erratically and jumps off the screen where I can no longer see it.  I have to change the resolution temporarily to get it back.

moliveras,

this is (as maybe you have looked over that in this fast growing thread) already under investigation in bug #2890221 on surceforge: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=28902…

kind regards Florian

In summary, MythTV Player 0.7.0-r241 http://www.arno.com/mythtv/MythTvPlayer0.7.0-r241.zip is the best version yet for my setup.  Thanks Markus!

MythTV Player 0.7.0-r241:

Machine 4:
Windows XP Professional (5.01.2600) SP2
DirectX 9.0c
Intel Petium D 2.8GHz / 200MHz bus
ASUSTeK P5LD2-VM motherboard
3GB RAM
NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT video
Realtek HD Audio
Observation:The only machine in my house (so far) that seems to play 1080i.  This isn't the fastest machine either, so the display driver/electronics must be providing this capability.  The Athlon machines are definitely faster for CAE.

Plays 1080i : "Heroes - Thanksgiving" (watched it before the transcoder got ahold of it)
Plays 720p :  "V", "NOVA - Becoming Human: Last Human Standing"
Plays 720t :  "Big Bang Theory - The Adhesive Duck Deficiency"
Plays 480i : "Sanctuary - Fragments"

Machine1:
 Athlon XP 2200+ / 1.8GHz,
 1.5GB RAM,
NVidia GeForce FX 5200 (Microsoft Corporation),
 Vinyl AC`97 Codec Driver (WDM),
Linksys EG1032 v3 Instant Gigabit Desktop Network Adapter Driver,
 Windows XP Professional 2002 SP2

720p :  (gets real jumpy, fits and starts lurches along, doesn't crash) "V", "NOVA - Becoming Human: Last Human Standing"  Earlier versions played smoothly on this machine.
Plays 720t :  "Big Bang Theory - The Adhesive Duck Deficiency"
Plays 480i : "Wizards of Waverly Place - Three Monsters"

About the "File deletion" feature I requested... seems redundant with the "Recordings" feature in the same dialog.  What I like better about "File deletion" is the Delete Button isn't grayed out, and when the delete button is pressed, a dialog is presented which explains Delete is disabled and how to activate it.  The only improvement I could make to this is to suggest using CTRL+P to access preferences.  The original "Recordings" feature when disabled, kills the Delete button along with any application hints about how to activate the feature (MFC Deactivate).  Both accomplish what I requested, I like your newer implementation better for the additional "application training/help" it provides.  Maybe a little of both, gray out the feature button, yet provide "training/help clues" when the cursor hovers over the button.

The MythTV Player app is a little confusing to me from a UI perspective because the "Normal" Application Menu items ["File", "Edit", "Preferences", etc. with "Hot Keys", {i.e. "Preferences...  Ctrl+P"] are missing.  As a result, I had no idea there was a whole "Preferences" dialog with these features.  Now that I know, I can see what I asked is redundant.

I realize the MythTV Player App may have been originally setup with only a Dialog Framework instead of regular Application Framework, which is a little more complicated.  I suspect "creeping elegance" turned a "really simple" dialog player concept into enough features for an application.  It might be time to consider migrating the program framework.

I have another program recorded in 1080i which fails repeatedly (lost audio stream) within about 15 seconds of starting under MythTVPlayer0.7.0-r241 (the good one) on Machine 4:

The Big Bang Theory: The Electric Can Opener Fluctuation
http://www.arno.com/mythtv/1071_20091130213100.mpg
After tampering with Sheldon's Arctic-expedition data, the guys follow him back to Texas, which threatens Leonard's chances for romance with Penny.

This is the one with the guys returning from months in the Arctic wanting to kill Sheldon.  What they do to him instead is worse...

Hope you can fix it, and if not, enjoy the show.

Craig

P.S.  Almost forgot to add the log file (attached)

Dear all,

what puzzles me right now is the fact that this thing is so unpredictable and then, on the other hand, it looks obvious, but first a few questions:

- does anyone have this issue also with LiveTv?
- Do we see any coincidence with the processor type or generation ?

I blame the ffmpeg libs for all that. It seems that they have some issues when reading from the stream buffer, thereby forcing underruns. But I am really not sure, as I am not an expert on that.

However, my experience with the 0.6 version and the fact that after upgrading to the latest devel libs, neither 0.6 NOR trunk would play ANY recording really points the finger towards them. Craig, can you compile at the moment and step back to this version of ffmpeg: http://ffmpeg.arrozcru.org/builds/shared/ffmpeg-r15986-gpl… ?

thanks florian

I would if I had the development environment setup.  I don't have source, or a description of the build environment.  Maybe you intended someone elses name?
