Subject: Help out testing trunk builds
Dear all,

regardless if you have issues with the 0.6 candidates or not, we would like you to test the latest build against different type of recordings you have in your backends.

Please grab the latest 0.7.0-xyz build from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/mythtvplayer/files/ - and give us some feedback if your experience gets better or worse.

Please use a separate directory for this, in favour of overwriting/corrupting your working installation!

Thanks you and kind regards,

Florian

If I try to watch an in-progress recording with this build then most of the time it skips straight to the end of the recording instead of playing from the beginning.
This is not consistent, but I can try and recreate it and supply logs files if you need them.

I have been playing around with this some more as I believe that Mythtv Player is the best windows alternative around.

What I have found is it is not code that is an issue, but the default config.xml settings.

Setting the following values gives me faultless viewing in both sd and hd.
Could we see these changed in the build?

        <AudioPacketBuffer>120</AudioPacketBuffer>
        <StreamBufferSize>2048576</StreamBufferSize>
        <StreamBufferBlockSize>65535</StreamBufferBlockSize>

Hi!

I recently had not much time to look here. What you write seems like an interesting approach. I will get confirmation on this with my setup. Of course we can include this if it works.

I have tested with these options and have success with all of my HD recordings.  Both HDPVR and HDHomerun work great.  In the past these recordings would not play at all.

I recommend we add these setting as default.

Thanks for the reply Florian,

I thought the problem I had viewing recordings that are in progress had gone with those settings.
I was wrong, they still exist some times.
The video plays from the end of the recording and the audio is from the start of the recording, then it gives an error.
I can watch them correctly with V6 of the player though.

Let me know if you need a log file as I can get this to happen with relative ease.

Steve.

Hi guys,

I have changed the settings also here and I can now play recordings with 3.6MBit bitrate, but nothing above. This is f.. strange !

How do you get the bit rate?  That feature has been broken for me for a long time.

Not conclusive ... are these settings working or not?

Also try the latest bind in Sourceforge (r251) with latest ffmpeg build. Got good performance with the one HD-file I have ...

Regarding the bitrate: I suggest to remove this value from the player because I can't get it to work (still believe it is a bug in the floating point operations of MinGw)
